Jerrod Allen 

Jerrod obtained his law degree with honors from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law.  While in law school, Jerrod served on the SMU Law Review and was an Associate Editor of the Air Law Symposium.  Before attending law school, Jerrod graduated from The University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Silver Spurs, the organization responsible for handling BEVO.  Jerrod currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Silver Spurs Alumni Association.

Jerrod is a trial lawyer with nineteen years of experience in and out of the courtroom.  Jerrod spent the first seven years of his law practice litigating cases at some of the most prestigious law firms in Texas.  In 2009, Jerrod moved to Longview, Texas and started West Allen Law Firm, PC.  After practicing law with Brent Bryson for 8 years, Jerrod and Brent formed Allen Bryson, PLLC.  Allen Bryson currently serves its clients with offices in Dallas and Longview, Texas.   

Jerrod represents both businesses and individuals in trial, arbitration, and mediation matters throughout Texas and beyond. Jerrod focuses his practice on oil and gas and business-related matters.  In doing so, Jerrod seeks to help as many people as he can.   

Jerrod's representative matters, with the help of others, include:

  • Represented publicly traded oil and gas energy service company in collection of its account receivables with matters ranging from $10,000 to over $1,000,000. Total collections to date total over $20,000,000.

  • Defended national oil and gas energy service company from breach of contract and negligence claims regarding alleged destruction of oil well. Jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in less than three hours after a 10-day trial in Purcell, Oklahoma.

  • Defended national oil and gas energy service company from breach of contract and negligence claims regarding alleged damage to oil well.

  • Defended workover rig manufacturer in products liability and negligence personal injury litigation.

  • Represented national propane distributor regarding pipeline litigation and collection of accounts receivable.

  • Represented national food and non-food product supply company in collection of accounts receivable.

  • Represented commercial property owner and bounce-house franchisee tenant in obtaining specific use permit before Carrolton City Council.

  • Represented clothing supplier and seller in defense of purchaser’s claims of alleged breach of contract regarding sale of goods.

  • Represented lender in prosecution of claims for breach of note, breach of guaranty, and related claims.

  • Defended lender in alleged wrongful foreclosure lawsuit.

  • Represented RV dealer in defense of alleged breach of contract, Deceptive Trade Practices, and fraud claims.

  • Defended various oil and gas energy service companies, as well as a national oil and gas operator, from alleged personal injury claims brought by employees of independent contractors.

  • Defended various oil and gas energy service companies from breach of contract and negligence claims regarding alleged property damage.

  • Represented electrical subcontractor in multi-party commercial construction litigation in defense of claims regarding work performed and in prosecution of subcontractor’s counterclaims and lien rights for payment owed.

  • Represented wood floor subcontractor in multi-party commercial construction litigation in defense of claims regarding work performed.

  • Represented builders and individuals in the Texas Residential Construction Commission State-Sponsored Inspection and Dispute Resolution Process.

  • Defended numerous residential builders against alleged breach of contract, breach of warranty, Deceptive Trade Practices, and related claims.

  • Represented homeowner and business entity in condemnation negotiations with County.

  • Represented various property owners in defense of alleged Americans with Disabilities Act discrimination claims.

  • Represented horse racetrack in class action lawsuit in defense of alleged Americans with Disabilities Act discrimination claims.

  • Defended national trucking company in alleged wrongful death and personal injury litigation.

  • Represented national mail delivery company in defense of personal injury claims related to trucking accident.

  • Represented various governmental entities, sheriffs, and police officers in defense of §1983 claims in alleged wrongful death lawsuits.

  • Obtained transfer of venue from Southern District of Texas to Northern District of Texas in defense of national trucking company in alleged wrongful death and negligence suit.

  • Obtained summary judgment recommendation from federal magistrate in the Northern District of Texas in defense of City’s denial of a specific use permit where Plaintiff alleged various constitutional claims including due process and taking claims.

  • Represented national electronics store in suit for allegedly faulty installation of electronics.

  • Represented college cheerleader for her personal injury claims against intoxicated driver where car was struck and turned over on the morning of January 1.

  • Obtained full summary judgment for Softball Umpire’s Association in defense of personal injury allegations.

Outside of the office, Jerrod enjoys spending time with his wife, two boys, Champ (the family’s yellow lab), playing golf, and fly fishing.
